The Palmetto200 Relay, April 13-14, 2012

Register Now

What? The Palmetto200 is a unique, overnight relay adventure in which you and 11 friends cover 200 scenic miles from the Historic Columbia Speedway (in Cayce, SC - near Columbia) to James Island (just outside of historic Charleston).  The Palmetto200 will treat runners to the Historic Columbia Speedway, Santee State Park, Lonestar BBQ, farm communities, lakes, Fort Moultrie, the Ravenel Bridge, historic Charleston and the coastal waters.

When? The Palmetto200 relay will take place April 13 - 14, 2012, with the starting times staggered based upon each team's estimated finish time. Beginning near Columbia, SC the first flight of teams will start the 200-mile course around 6:00 am on Friday, April 13. Over the next several hours additional sets of teams will depart on their overnight journey through the Palmetto state to James Island. Teams will begin arriving at James Island County Park around noon on Saturday, April 14 and continue streaming in through the afternoon.

How? Teams are made up of 4 to 12 people who split 36 legs.  For instance, each person of a 12 person team will run three legs over distances varying from 4 – 10 miles.  Each team will provide support vans to drop off and pick up runners at designated exchange points along the 200-mile route.

Who?  EVERYONE!  Now some may disagree with that statement, but you don't have to be a Kenyan to run, although that certainly may help you set a course record.  From casual joggers to serious racers, this event is great fun for everyone.  In fact, you will likely be asking your van-mates to come back again next year even before you finish the relay. The field is limited to the first 150 teams that register and our early bird discount ends November 15th.
